Work efficiently with a structured approach

ZEISS/GOM ScanBox hands-on training

ScanBox individual coaching & process optimization

Practical process optimization for ZEISS ScanBox & measurement systems

Safer, faster, more efficient: Get the most out of your ZEISS/GOM ScanBox & ZEISS/GOM Inspect

Do you use a ZEISS / GOM ScanBox or a manual optical scanning system at your company? Are you the second or third generation responsible for this system, trained by your predecessors?

Then you probably recognize these questions:

  • “Are we actually doing this right in our day-to-day work?”
  • “Could data capture or programming be made significantly more efficient?”
  • “Could there be features in the evaluation that we don’t know about yet?”

We’ll review your processes together and apply our specialist know-how directly to your parts and on-site requirements.

Training content (tailored to your needs)

  • Analysis of current workflows

→ Goal: more efficient and reliable measurement workflows

  • Optimize the measurement strategy

→ Coordinate material, measurement volume, and scan positions effectively

  • Data import & interfaces

→ e.g. CSV import or importing Calypso data into

  • Grayscale feature

→ Properly capture thin sheet metal parts with a large measurement volume

  • Optimize fixtures and part positioning

→ Complete digitization with fewer image captures

  • Scan data processing & mesh workflows

→ A clean data foundation for more precise and faster evaluations

  • Editing individual scan captures

→ Target and correct errors to improve measurement quality

  • Section analysis & deviation flags

→ Reliable part evaluation directly in the inspection software

  • Phased projects

→ Create and evaluate step projects

Case study

A look at a recent seminar

The customer: “We’re second-generation users of a somewhat older ScanBox, with good in-house training from our predecessors – but are we really doing everything right?” We walked through the actual process, and there were quite a few “aha” moments:

  • Measurement point positions

→ stable scan data with better arrangement of measurement points

  • Robot measurement path

→ Reduce image captures by 50% by repositioning the scanned part

  • Optimized robot path

→ shorter scan times per part

  • Editing individual scans

→ targeted improvement of critical areas

  • Measurement feature programming

→ more comparable to CMM measurements

  • Export points from existing Calypso programs

→ more comparable results and less programming effort

At the end, we answered additional questions about evaluation and cross-section analysis.

Why work with us?

From design engineer to metrology technician—practical and efficient

  • On-site seminar
  • We build on your existing knowledge
  • Trainer with extensive experience in design engineering and metrology
  • Measurement and evaluation using real parts
  • Personalized handout based on your data
  • Group seminars available for the whole team
  • Further support: process guidance, advanced training, ZEISS / GOM programming (see also advanced seminar)

What we need from you in advance

To ensure the training is optimally prepared, we clarify the following in advance:

  • Which ZEISS Inspect version is used?
  • Sample part file (ideally in .STEP format)
  • Measurement strategy: drawing tolerances or pass/fail evaluation?
  • Existing measurement plan (CMM evaluation)
  • Do you measure parts repeatedly? (e.g. step projects)
  • Are report templates available?
  • Further processing of data (CSV, .IGES etc.)

General questions

Hello. Here are some more points on the topic:

  • Does the training have to take place on a ZEISS ScanBox?

No. Whilst the practical training is specifically aimed at users of automated cells such as the ScanBox, it can also be applied to manual or semi-automatic measurement set-ups (e.g. using ATOS 3D scanners, rotary-tilt tables or CMM interfaces). We tailor the content precisely to your existing hardware and peripherals.

  • How many participants is the hands-on training designed for?

To ensure intensive, hands-on work directly on your hardware, we recommend a group size of 2 to a maximum of 5 people. This way, every team member can work through real measurement workflows, ask questions and apply what they’ve learned on the system straight away.

  • Can we work on our own parts and projects during the hands-on training?

Absolutely. That’s exactly what this format is all about. Rather than training on abstract demo parts, we analyze and optimize your actual production parts, fixtures, and existing measurement programs right there in your measurement room.

  • What happens if new questions come up in day-to-day work after the training?

We’re here for you. After the hands-on training, we’re still available for ongoing support, advanced programming in ZEISS Inspect, or as a flexible extra resource when you’re short-staffed.

  • Which ZEISS / GOM software versions are supported in the hands-on training?

We train on all widely used software versions—from older GOM Inspect versions to the latest ZEISS Inspect versions. We tailor tips and tricks to the exact features available in your installed version.

  • Do we need to shut down production or the measuring room completely during the training?

No. Since we work directly on your actual parts and projects, the hands-on training can be integrated seamlessly into your daily work. Urgent production measurements or ongoing inspection jobs can be scheduled flexibly between training sessions.

  • Is hands-on training worthwhile for older GOM ScanBox models too?

Absolutely. We’re happy to support teams using older automated cells. Older systems often have significant time-saving potential that can be unlocked through optimized robot paths, smarter measurement point placement or up-to-date evaluation strategies.

  • How does preparation work before the training session?

After you contact us, we’ll use a brief technical call to confirm which hardware, software and peripherals you use. We’ll prepare specifically based on a small data sample or part sample, so we can get straight into your specific topics on the training day without wasting time.
